Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose work is among the most admired in the history of art. Although he sold very few paintings during his lifetime, he created more than 2,000 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, in just ten years. His bold use of color, expressive brushstrokes, and emotional intensity transformed the way artists approached painting.
